Timpview Game - Mistakes

I was listening to a comedian and he said something interesting, "if you go back and fix all of your mistakes then you erase yourself."

Soccer is a game where you get punished hard for your mistakes. A goal can change a game. With tennis, baseball, basketball, golf, mistakes rarely cost the game. I like that soccer punishes players so much for mistakes. It build character and makes you prepare that much better.

The mistake in overtime cost us the game; however, so did missing a few wide open shots on goal. These mistakes will better prepare us for next time!

Corner Canyon - THS

We scored within the first minute of the game on a heads up play. Was a fun game to watch. We played with heart, had great combinations, but didn't find the back of the net like we needed to.

I saw a lot of young players go in and fight hard. We had people sitting out for losing their tempers and not representing the school appropriately. Most people I talk to about this say things like, "they are just teenagers." I get that portion, but excusing a person for bad behavior can cause all sorts of issues.

We can only hold people responsible for behavior, not circumstances. If you cannot behave well in any circumstance you will end up with unnecessarily difficult life experiences.

I'm excited for the future and glad to see many of you making so much progress.

Goal: Nathan Conrad
Assist: Jordan Strong
Player of the game: Silverio - he ran and ran, had great passing patterns, played hard.

MV vs THS

One tough thing about sports is that the best team doesn't always win. I think this is especially true in soccer. Despite the penalty kicks, we somehow stayed close enough to almost win the game.

Vince Lombardi once said:

“Football is a great deal like life in that it teaches that work, sacrifice, perseverance, competitive drive, selflessness and respect for authority is the price that each and every one of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile.”

Although we didn't win this game we worked hard, persevered, and competed with real desire.

Goals - Anferney Mendoza, Silverio Gonzalez
